The island of Panagia or Virgin Mother!

From the first moment you stand on the waterfront of Tinos and look up towards the city but also more widely towards the hinterland you will discover small villages and lights at night that will tempt you to explore it.

Starting from the city, island and Cycladic character will impress you at first glance. The virgin of Tinos, the homonymous church stands there and attracts countless visitors with different culture and many Christian orthodox from all countries of the world. The atmosphere that is created is often overwhelming with the colored carpet that goes up to the entrance of the church and for some it is the proof of their faith, since they kneel down slowly to declare their deep faith and for our Virgin Mary to give them strength either for some hope of them.

In the narrow streets of the port and the entire coastal area you will discover small restaurants and fish taverns as well as all kinds of shops and cafes or nightclubs to have fun and relax with your company.

Plenty of villages are waiting for you to explore such as Berdemiaros, Mundados, Triantaros, Ktikados, Hatzirados, Kampos and many more. Each with its own traditional character. It is worth going all the way to the village of Arnados to visit the important Monastery of Kechrovouni (10th century building).

In the center of the island dominates the imposing and peculiar rock of Xoburgos as it is written in the important attractions of Tinos. Its granite volume is surrounded by the picturesque villages of Skalados, Xynara, Koumaro and Loutra. On its outskirts begins the path that leads to the medieval castle where the Catholic church of the Sacred Heart dominates, then to the folklore museum in the village of Volakas and on the occasion don't forget to buy the famous baskets of Tinos from the basket weavers in the shops.

There are many organized beaches in Tinos such as Livada beach with its sculpted rocks and pure white sand, the popular sandy beaches of Agios Petros, Kalyvia and Giannaki, with transparent waters and protected from the meltemi and of course many other options either organized or secluded small seaside paradises for swimming and sunbathing. Do not forget to visit the amazing beaches of Stafida, Agiothalassa and Rohari.

You will be impressed by the marble village of Tinos "Pyrgos" with a tradition of marble craftsmanship dating back to the Byzantine and Venetian eras. There you will find the house of the sculptor Halepas and the Museum of Tinian Artists. Pleasant moments browsing the small alleys ending in the small square with the plane tree will lead you to traditional cafes and restaurants. Do not miss to visit the impressive and modern Marble Museum. It is located on the outskirts of the village and has a parking space. Here you will see – watching and with audio-visual means – the entire history of marble, from antiquity to the present day.
